[Defending Procedural Justice]
The Council Chairperson of the Legislative Council was held under series of unjust circumstances. The Legislative Council Secretariat had breached its powers, preventing Legislative Councilors from making oaths; Andrew Leung, without providing sufficient information, had been elected as the Council Chairperson with the aid from his fellow Legislative Councillors such as Abraham Shek Lai-him. The Legislative Council had since begun its unconstitutional operation, and is currently facing a constitutional crisis.
The beginning of office term of the Legislative Council had revealed Leung Chun-ying and the pro-establishment parties’ pressuring of the Legislative Council, forcing Andrew Leung to repudiate his original decision, destroying the independence and the dignity of the Legislative Council by denying the two Legislate Councillors form Youngspiration from the right to make oaths.
This a direct act affecting the representation of voters, and at the same time reveals the interference of the legislature by the administrative. The result is dire. It paves way for greater political oppression in Hong Kong, further suppressing the democratic movement in Hong Kong.
We call for your attention and support in this swirl of political oppression. See you at East Point Road.
